Andrew Priest - Director I was born in the UK just north of London and after completing a Diploma in Agriculture at Writtle Agricultural College I moved to New Zealand to start a career in the dairy industry. After a few years I decided to have a change and in 1998 I joined the NZ Police where I stayed for 12 years ending up as a Sergeant. On the 10th February 2010 I hit a bad patch of road while riding my motorbike and crashed. I was very lucky to survive but have been left with a spinal injury in my lower back. Being introduced to wheelchairs was an education and I quickly started looking for an off road chair so I could get back into the outdoors where I had previously spent much of my time. When I came across the Mountain Trike and Boma chairs I had to have one and started Independent Journeys so that I could bring these amazing chairs to others in New Zealand who are confined to a wheelchair. THE FUTURE FOR INDEPENDENT JOURNEYS Projects currently in the planning stage for Independent Journeys are: - Quad bike attachments for wheelchair carriage. - Outdoor holidays for wheelchair users utilising off road chairs. - Wheelchair and disabled archery forum. - Trail days for Independent Journeys customers. If you have any ideas which would help you access the NZ outdoors and think Independent Journeys could help you with that please contact us.
